Message from Ambassador for Special Supplement

Posted on: January 26, 2025 | Back | Print

On the happy occasion of 76th Republic Day of India, I offer my warm greetings and best wishes to all. This day is a day of special significance for Indians and for People of Indian origin abroad. It is celebrated every year with great pride.

On 26th January 1950, our founding fathers gave us constitution, a Holy book, and the guiding light to realize our hopes and aspirations. The core values profounded in our Constitution – Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity – are sacred to all of us. Since then, India has made a great deal of progress in all fields and over the years, India has consolidated its “Unity in Diversity” and laid foundations for sustainable and inclusive growth. Today, India, 5th largest economy in the world, is a strong, vibrant, multicultural, secular and dynamic democracy.

Given our shared struggles and common aspirations, it is natural that India-Algeria partnership continues to thrive. The year 2024 saw the first-ever State visit by an Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu to Algeria from October 13-16, 2024. The visit opened a new chapter in strengthening our existing partnership.

On the trade and economic front, bilateral trade between India and Algeria stands at  US$ 1.7 billion.

India, under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation, have trained around  465 Algerians in the last few years.

We value Algeria’s participation in the International Solar Alliance.

Defence relations between India and Algeria are strong and evolving.

The people-to-people ties between India and Algeria continue to progress.

With growing economic dynamism in “New-India and New-Algeria”, we feel that considerable opportunities exist which need to be fully explored, particularly, in the area of trade and economic cooperation. We look forward to enhancing and speeding up our overall bilateral engagement.

I am confident that the year 2025 would see further augmentation of bilateral ties as both our countries stand to gain enormously from each other in all domains.
