Tea Tasting Exhibition at Bab Ezzouar Mall, Algiers
The Embassy of India organized a ‟Tea Tasting Exhibition : Chai of India – Elixir of Life” in collaboration with Bab Ezzouar Mall from 1 to 3 February 2024 at Bab Ezzouar Mall, Algiers to showcase the taste and benefits of the Indian tea for Algerian citizens.
The event was inaugurated by Ambassador of India to Algeria H.E. Mr. Gaurav Ahluwalia and the Director of Bab Ezzouar Mall Mrs. Selma Salhi. The Director General of the Mall Mr. Mohamed Cherif Haddad and the Director of GALERIE EZZOU’ART Mrs. Amel Benmohamed were also present. A young Algerian girl sang a popular Indian song highlighting the culural connect between the people of India and Algeria. A yoga session by an Algerian yoga practitioner was also organised, which was well attended.
Five varieties of Indian Nilgiri Tea were served during the event. These varieties were procured into Algeria in collaboration with the Tea Board of India and the United Planters' Association of Southern India (UPASI). More than 3000 visitors relished the Indian Nilgri black teas during the three days. The Nilgri teas are champions of the Golden Lead India Awards : Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA- STC) 2023 held in Dubai.
The visitors to the tea exhibition at Bab Ezzouar Mall interacted with the Economic and Commercial wing of the Embassy. The Embassy officials responded enthusiastically to different trade, tourism and technology queries.
The event was deeply appreciated by the Algerian nationals who put down their comments in a visitor’s book placed on site.
